When summoned by police or taken into custody, knowing your rights can make a critical difference.

Article 20(3) โ€” Right Against Self-Incrimination

No person accused of any offence shall be compelled to be a witness against himself.

Article 22 โ€” Right to Legal Representation

You have the right to be informed of the grounds of your arrest and the right to consult a legal practitioner of your choice.

Section 41A CrPC โ€” Notice Before Arrest

For offences punishable with up to 7 years imprisonment, police must issue a Section 41A notice before making an arrest.
